Takeaway ordering systems in Stockport: what they cost and how to choose

Updated 16 September 2026 · 6 min read

If you run a takeaway in Stockport, you have three ways to take orders online. They cost very different amounts, and the cheapest headline price is rarely the cheapest in practice. Here is what each one actually means for your till.

1. Marketplaces like Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo

These bring you customers who are browsing for food, not looking for you. You pay for that with commission on every order. Published rates are around 14% plus VAT when you deliver yourself, and about 30% plus VAT when their riders deliver.

  • Good at: reaching people who have never heard of you
  • Costs: a share of every order, for as long as you are on there
  • Watch for: promotions, sponsored placement and refunds pushing the real cost higher

2. Your own ordering website

Companies such as Flipdish, Slerp, eTakeawayMax and others build you a branded ordering site for a monthly fee, with no commission. The orders are yours, and so is the customer list.

  • Good at: keeping your margin on customers who already know you
  • Costs: a monthly fee, plus card processing
  • Watch for: you have to drive every single order yourself, through flyers, social media and repeat customers

3. A local marketplace

This is where SK Feast sits. It works like a marketplace, so customers browse Stockport takeaways and find you, but it is paid for with a flat monthly fee of £99 instead of commission. No service fee is added to the customer's bill either.

A takeaway doing 400 orders a month at £22 each would pay roughly £1,232 in commission at 14%, or £2,640 at 30%. The same month on SK Feast costs £99.

How to choose

Most Stockport takeaways are best off with a mix. Keep whatever brings in genuinely new customers, and give regulars somewhere cheaper to order so you stop paying commission on people who were coming to you anyway.

  • Work out what you paid in commission last month. That is your budget for everything else.
  • Ask what happens to your customer data. On a marketplace, it usually is not yours.
  • Check the contract length and the notice period before you sign anything.
  • Count card fees separately. Everyone charges them, and they are usually around 1.5% plus 20p.

What is the cheapest way to take online orders in Stockport?

A flat monthly fee is cheapest once you are busy. At £99 a month, SK Feast costs less than 14% commission as soon as you take roughly 400 orders a month at £22.

Do I have to leave Just Eat to use a local marketplace?

No. Most takeaways run both for a while, then reduce their reliance on commission as more regulars order direct.

Who delivers the food?

On SK Feast you do, with your own drivers, or the customer collects. There is no rider network, which is why there is no 30% option.
