Our mission

Fair for takeaways.
Fair for families.

We’re building a way to order from your local takeaway that doesn’t take a slice of every order, so good food stays affordable and local businesses stay open.

Takeaways are the heart of the high street

The chippy that knows your order. The curry house that’s fed three generations of the same family. The pizza place that sponsors the Sunday league team. Independent takeaways are family businesses. They give local people jobs and keep our streets busy after dark.

Most of us now order through an app. That’s convenient, but it has a cost that’s easy to miss.

“When an app takes a share of every order, the money has to come from somewhere. Too often, it comes from you.”

Where the money goes

The big delivery apps charge takeaways a commission on every order, often between 14% and 30%. On top of that, customers are often charged service fees.

For a small business with tight margins, that cut is hard to absorb. So many takeaways do the only thing they can: they put their prices up on the apps. The family ordering a Friday night tea pays more, and the takeaway still earns less.

The price squeeze

How a commission ends up on your bill

Nobody sets out to charge you more. It happens one step at a time.

  1. You place an order

A £20 family meal from your local takeaway.

  2. The app takes its cut

£2.80 to £6 goes to the app before the takeaway sees a penny.

  3. Margins get squeezed

Ingredients, staff, rent and energy all still need paying.

  4. Prices go up

To cover the cut, menu prices rise. The customer pays the difference.

Our answer

One flat fee. That’s it.

Instead of taking a share of every order, we charge takeaways a simple £99 a month. The busier they get, the more they keep, and there’s no reason to put prices up.

For a busy local takeaway

Example: 400 orders a month, averaging £22 each (£8,800 in orders)

Commission at 14%£1,232
Commission at 30%£2,640
With us£99

That’s between £1,100 and £2,500 a month staying in a local business.

For a family ordering in

Example: a £20 order

Service fee from us£0
Commission added by us£0
What you payMenu price

You pay the takeaway’s own prices, plus their delivery charge if they deliver. Nothing added by us.

Examples are for illustration only. Commission rates vary by app and by who delivers. Takeaways also pay standard card processing fees to the card provider.

Straight talking

How we’re different, honestly

We’re not trying to be a giant app. Here’s what that means in practice.

  • Takeaways deliver their own foodThere’s no army of riders. Your food comes from the takeaway’s own drivers, or you collect it yourself.
  • We make money from a flat fee, not from you£99 a month from each takeaway pays for the platform, and that’s all.
  • Card fees still existTakeaways pay the standard fee to the card provider when you pay by card, just as they would in the shop.
  • We’re starting smallStockport first, done properly. Then more towns across the North West.
